Libor Novàček was born in Prague, studied with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and graduated in 2004 with the Guildhall’s highest awards.  His first two CDs of music by Janáček, Martinů, Ravel, Debussy and Liszt were released in 2006 to outstanding reviews in BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone Magazine and International Record Review.   In February 2007 his Liszt CD was Editor’s Choice in Gramophone Magazine and in June he was awarded a Diplôme d’Honneur by the 33rd Liszt International Record Grand Prix in Hungary.

Over the last year Libor has appeared at major festivals and venues throughout the UK including the Wigmore Hall.  As a soloist he made his debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Garry Walker, appeared at the Mostly Mozart Festival with the Prague Philharmonia at the Barbican and returned to perform Beethoven's Emperor Concerto with the RPO at the Barbican.  Further afield he has recorded for Czech Radio and given a series of master-classes and concerts in India and Zimbabwe.
